TREATING POLYAMOROUS AND OTHER CONSENSUALLY NON-MONOGAMOUS INDIVIDUALS
The various forms of consensual non-monogamy, from poly networks to swinging, involve values, ideals, choices, and identities that subvert some of the social norms of romantic relationships. This session will present some of the speaker’s research on this population, including reasons why people choose consensual non-monogamy, and predictors of positive adjustment. The speaker will present clinical approaches and explore biases and countertransferential issues that may complicate ethical practice with this population.
